About Amaranthus lividus Plant :

  • Habit : A tall erect succulent herb, procumbent, 15 - 40 cm high.
  • Stem : Branches pale - green in colour and smooth.
  • Leaves : Alternate, small, narrow, ovate, emarginated at apex, glabrous.
  • Inflorescence : Spikes
  • Flowers : Flowers greenish, Sepals oblong, apiculate, clusters small, axillary and terminal, simple or branched 6 - 15 cm long spikes.
  • Fruit : Indehiscent
  • Flowering and Fruiting time : During monsoon.
  • Significance :
    • It is used as a pot - herb.
    • Leaves are used to make a poultice.
