About Capsicum annuum Plant :

  • Habit : A small perennial herb with angular stems.   
  • Leaves : Broadly ovate, acuminate, wrinkled.
  • Inflorescence : Extra-axillary cymose.
  • Flowers : Calyx small. Corolla rotate, white-greenish or purplish, lobes 5. Stamens 5, Ovary two-celled, style slender, stigma capitate.
  • Fruit : Berry small, oblong or ovoid, green and long, many seeded.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : August-December
  • Significance :
    • Cultivated mainly for its small fruits which are hot and used in masala.
    • It increases appetite and useful in indigestion.
