About Lindenbergia indica Plant :

  • Habit : A small, glandular herb found growing on walls of some places (Lithophytes).
  • Leaves : Opposite or the upper alternate, ovate, acute, serrate, glandular hairy.
  • Inflorescence : 1-2 flowered,Axillary.
  • Flowers :
    • Calyx bell-shaped, 5 lobes, triangular glandular-hairy.
    • Corolla yellow, bilabiate, upperlip 2-lobed, lower lip 3-lobed, rounded.
    • Stamens 4, didynamous, included, anthers with separate stalked cells.
    • Ovary 2-celled, style long, stigma lobed.
  • Fruit : Capsule many seeded.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : September-December
  • Significance :
    • Whole plant is boiled in water and vapour bath given in fever.
    • The juice is given in chronic bronchitis.
