  • Habit : An elegant perennial herb.
  • Leaves : Alternate, simple, arrow-shaped, generally mottled.
  • Inflorescence : Spadix
  • Flowers : Flowers are borne inside a fleshy spadix which is covered by a spathe.
  • Significance :
    • The plant is known to possess poisonous compounds which are known to be toxic to dogs and pets.
    • It even causes irritation of lips, tongue and throat when ingested in human body.
    • However, it is still used as an indoor decorative house plant.
