About Cassia javanica Plant :
Habit : A small tree.
Leaves : Paripinnate compound, leaflets 8-14, oblong oval, rounded at tips, stipulate, stipules crescent-shaped leafy at the base.
Flowers :
The distinct clusters of rose-pink flowers intermingled with the foliage.
There are about 10 flowers in a cluster, with a dull-red heart-shaped bract below each flower.
Calyx of 5, deep red sepals.
Petals oblong, rose-pink, veined in deeper pink.
Stamens 10, bright yellow, all fertile.
The lower 3 stamens are long and project in a double curve, swell in the middle and then bent upwards, with large brown anthers, the other anthers are yellow.
Style green.
Fruit : Pods long, straight, indehiscent, seeds brown, flattened.
Flowering and Fruiting Time : May - June
Significance : Cultivated in the gardens and along the roadsides.
