  • Habit : An annual, erect, very hispid herb.
  • Leaves : Opposite or alternate, variable, ovate, oblong or lanceolate-oblong, obtuse, cordate with stiff hairs.
  • Inflorescence : Solitary and leaf opposed and in terminal cymes.
  • Flowers :
    • Pale-violet, pedicellate, pedicels hispid.
    • Calyx 5-partite, hairy, segments lanceolate, united by basal auricles.
    • Corolla lobes 5, oblique, funnel-shaped, hairy, ovate deltoid.
    • Stamens 5, filaments short, anthers forming a cone, hairy, connective produced into linear appendages which are twisted together.
    • Ovary narrow, tapering into a style.
  • Fruits : Nutlets 4, with persistent style.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : August - October
