Habit :
A scandent shrub (often reports mention it as a climber).
Leaves :
Oblong-lanceolate, shortly acuminate, acute at the base, glabrous, shining.
Inflorescence :
Solitary or in pairs.
Flowers :
Greenish-yellow, sweet-scented.
Peduncle with a hook.
Sepals 3, valvate, connate below, ovate, acute, tips reflexed.
Petals 6, in two series, valvate, concave at the base, lanceolate.
Stamens indefinite, anthers adnate, 2-celled.
Carpels 6-10, obovoid when ripe.
Fruit :
Etaerio of berries.
Seeds large, oblong with endosperm ruminate.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
August - September
Significance :
Cultivated in the gardens for its sweet scented flowers.
