Habit :
A large, handsome tree.
Leaves :
Abruptly pinnate, leaflets oblique, long, petioled, ovate lanceolate.
Inflorescence :
Drooping panicles.
Flowers :
White, honey-scented. Calyx short, 5-partite, petals 5, broadly elliptic, keeled, stamens 5, disk hairy, orange-coloured, staminodes 0, anthers versatile, ovary hairy, ovoid.
Fruit :
Capsules oblong, septifragal. Seeds winged.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
February-May
Significance :
The wood is valuable for furniture.
The flowers yield a dye and the bark is used in medicine for diarrhoea and dysentery.
