Grasses
Grasses are monocotyledonous usually herbaceous plants with narrow leaves growing from the base. They include 'true grasses' of the family Poaceae (Gramineae) as well as sedges of Cyperaceae. The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and grasses of lawn. In the present category of grasses we have included the true grasses from the Gramineae family only which differ from the sedges in having stems which are round in cross-section.
