About Fimbristylis ovata Plant :

  • Habit : A shortly rhizomatous perennial sedge with stems thickened at the base.
  • Leaves : Linear, shorter than stems.
  • Inflorescence and Flowers :
    • 1-2 solitary spikelets, bracts very short.
    • Spikelets narrowly ovate, acute.
    • Glumes triangular-ovate, acute with pale scarious sides and curved green, shortly excurrent keel. Style smooth.
  • Fruit : Nut stipitate-orbicular, terete or somewhat ridged, covered by large warts except on the ridges.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : June onwards.
