  • Botanical Name : Digitaria longiflora (Retz.) Pers.
  • Synonyms : Paspalum longiflorum Retz.
  • Plant Family : Poaceae (Gramineae)
  • According to the Rules of ICBN the names of the families should end in -aceae. Thus the new name for the family Gramineae became Poaceae. However, the name Gramineae is also exempted and conserved under 'Nomina Conservanda' because of their constant use for a long time.

About Digitaria longiflora Plant :

  • Habit : Tufted annuals, creeping and rooting at nodes or suberect, upto 45 cm tall.
  • Leaves : Long, linear to linear-lanceolate, flat, glabrous or hairy.
  • Inflorescence and Flowers :
    • Racemes digitate 2-5, 4-7 cm long.
    • Spikelets 0.2-0.3 cm long, elliptic-oblong, appressed to rachis.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : August - September
  • Significance : Common throughout.
