About Asphodelus tenuifolius Plant :

  • Habit : A small annual herb with fibrous roots.
  • Leaves :
    • Terete, fistulous, acute, sheathing at the base, finely puberulous.
    • Scapes several from the root, smooth or puberulous, much branched in the upper part.
  • Flowers :
    • White, distant laxly Racemose, solitary in each bract.
    • Filaments slightly fusiform towards the top.
    • Stigma small, sub-capitate, minutely 3-lobed.
  • Fruit :
    • Capsule globose, erect, the valves deeply wrinkled.
    • Seeds sharply trigonous, acute, black.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : January - March
  • Significance : Seeds are considered to be diuretic.
