Leaves : Dimorphic, the lower ones petioled, imparipinnatisect into 2-3 pairs of ovate-cuneiform, obtuse, incised-dentate, segments, decompound, the upper ones short petioled or subsessile, 2-3 pinnatisect into linear, filiform lobes.
Flowers :
Small, white or slightly bluish, in compound umbels of 5-10 rays, involucre 0, involucel usually of 3, short linear-lanceolate bracts.
Calyx teeth small, often unequal.Petals 5, obovate, emarginate.
Stamens 5, epigynous.Ovary inferior, sub-globose.
Fruit : A cremocarp, sub-globose, mericarps concave-convex, not ribbed.

Significance :
It is generally cultivated for its leaves and fruits.
The leaves are used as flavouring agent in cooking and for chatni.
The fruits are used as carminative, tonic and useful in dysentery.
