About Merremia gangetica Plant :
Habit :
A prostrate and creepingherb with stems covered with soft hairs.
Leaves :
Entire, suborbicular or reniform, mucronate at apex, petioles hairy.
Inflorescence :
Solitary or 2-3 flowered axillary cymes.
Flowers :
Calyx with outer sepals fimbriate at margins, ovate. Inner sepals subquadrate, divided into two small lobes at apex, fimbriate at margins.
Corolla yellow.
Ovary glabrous, stigma globose.
Fruit :
Brown, seeds 2 or 4.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
October - March
Significance :
The plant is said to be a diuretic, and useful in rheumatism and neuralgia.
