About Neptunia oleracea Plant :

  • Habit : An aquatic, floating plant, emitting slender white, fibrous roots abundance from the leaf and flower-bearing nodes.
  • Leaves : Abruptly bipinnate pinnae 2-3 pairs, opposite, stipules ovate-cordate, leaflets 8-15 pairs, narrow-oblong, obtuse.
  • Flowers :
    • Minute, sessile, in oblong heads, peduncles long, with ovate bract in the middle-calyx membranous.
    • Corolla lobes linear-oblong.
    • Stamens 10, much exserted, anthers gland-crested.
  • Fruit : Pods stalked, deflexed, 6-9 seeded.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : October-December
  • Significance : Generally found as a cultivated plant.
