About Oxalis latifolia Plant :

  • Habit : A perennial herb without stems.
  • Leaves : Possess three widely  heart-shaped leaflets, distinctly triangular, leaves on long petioles which arise directly from rootstock.
  • Inflorescence : Peduncle axillary carrying an umbel of 5-12 flowers.
  • Flower :
    • White or pinkish flowers with green throats, funnel-shaped.
    • Sepals 5, polysepalous, each sepal with 2 orange glands at the tip.
    • Petals 5, polypetalous.
    • Obdiplostemonous stamens. 5-celled ovary, each cell with many ovules, axile placentation.
  • Fruit : Capsule, 5-seeded, seeds orange to dark yellow, ribbed
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : May - June
  • Significance : It is generally grown as an ornamental.
