About Phyllanthus maderaspatensis Plant :

  • Habit : A small, annual herb.
  • Leaves : Scattered, obovate-cuneate, rounded or truncate at apex, runcinate, stipules peltate.
  • Inflorescence : Axillary
  • Flowers :
    • Male flowers minute, in small clusters, the female larger and solitary, pedicellate.
    • Sepals 6, obovate, green with white margins. Stamens 3, filaments connate.
    • Ovary 3 celled, styles 3, distinct, very small, 2-lobed.
  • Fruits : Capsules depressed, globose.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : Throughout the year.
  • Significance : Common weed on waste lands in rains. Seeds are medicinally used in kidney troubles. Roots are used in swellings. An infusion of the leaves is given for headache.
