  • Habit : An aquatic herb with stem stout, terete, slightly branched.
  • Leaves : Sessile, ovate-lanceolate, obtuse, membranous, translucent, amplexicaul, base-cordate, 5-9 nerved, stipulate, stipules small, caducous.
  • Inflorescence :
    • Peduncle stout, short, not thickened upwards.
    • Spikes dense-flowered.
  • Flowers : Sepals with long claws, elliptic-obovate.
  • Fruit : Drupelets, obliquely ovoid, hardly keeled, slightly compressed, with a short usual curved beak.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : December - February
  • Significance : Aquatic weed.
