Habit :
An aquatic herb with stem stout, terete, slightly branched.
Leaves :
Sessile, ovate-lanceolate, obtuse, membranous, translucent, amplexicaul, base-cordate, 5-9 nerved, stipulate, stipules small, caducous.
Inflorescence :
Peduncle stout, short, not thickened upwards.
Spikes dense-flowered.
Flowers :
Sepals with long claws, elliptic-obovate.
Fruit :
Drupelets, obliquely ovoid, hardly keeled, slightly compressed, with a short usual curved beak.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
December - February
Significance :
Aquatic weed.
