About Cestrum parqui Plant :

  • Habit : A small shrub, branches with small greenish-white lenticels.
  • Leaves : Lanceolate, long, tapering at the apex, very fetid when bruished, wavy.
  • Inflorescence : Umbellate cymes.
  • Flowers :
    • Bracteate, many bracts present.Calyx small.
    • Corolla tubular, salver-shaped, pale yellow in colour; lobes 5, acute, slightly tinged with purple on the outside.
    • Stamens 5, no appendages.
    • Ovary 2-celled, disk very small.
  • Fruit : Berry white, ovoid, many seeded.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : August-December 
  • Significance : Cultivated in the gardens for its sweet smelling flowers at night.
