Habit :
A small shrub, branches with small greenish-white lenticels.
Leaves :
Lanceolate, long, tapering at the apex, very fetid when bruished, wavy.
Inflorescence :
Umbellate cymes.
Flowers :
Bracteate, many bracts present.Calyx small.
Corolla tubular, salver-shaped, pale yellow in colour; lobes 5, acute, slightly tinged with purple on the outside.
Stamens 5, no appendages.
Ovary 2-celled, disk very small.
Fruit :
Berry white, ovoid, many seeded.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
August-December
Significance :
Cultivated in the gardens for its sweet smelling flowers at night.
