Opposite decussate, 4 in whorl, thick lanceolate, acute, base much narrowed into the petiole, decurrent.

Bracteate, bracts elliptic-lanceolate, glandular, hairy.
Calyx 5-partite, hairy.
Corolla scarlet-orange-yellow, hairy.
Stamens 4, didynamous.
Ovary 2-celled, ovules 2 in each cell, stigma bifid.
Fruit :
Capsule 4 seeded.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
June - January
Significance :
Very common in gardens and also known to be planted around temples.
