Habit :
An evergreen, soft-stemmed, perennial shrub with woody stems.
Leaves :
Opposite, lance-shaped, veins depressed.
Inflorescence :
Terminal spikes.
Flowers :
White coloured, zygomorphic, long-throated, emerge sequentially from overlapping bright yellow bracts on racemes.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
December - February
Significance :
It is generally grown as an ornamental for its beautiful inflorescence.
