  • Leaves : Opposite, ovate to lanceolate, hairy, stipules interpetiolar.
  • Flowers :
    • Dense clusters of star-shaped flowers in various shades of colours like white, pink, red and lavender.
    • Calyx lobes are unequal.
    • Corolla tube tubular, 5-lobed, star-shaped.
    • Stamens 4-6, filaments short, anthers filiform.
    • Ovary 2-celled, ovules many, style bifid papilose.
  • Fruit : A capsule
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : June - September
  • Significance : It is generally cultivated in the gardens for its beautiful flowers and are even popular among the butterflies.
