Habit :
A perennial erect, straggling shrub.
Leaves :
Opposite, ovate to lanceolate, hairy, stipules interpetiolar.
Flowers :
Dense clusters of star-shaped flowers in various shades of colours like white, pink, red and lavender.
Calyx lobes are unequal.
Corolla tube tubular, 5-lobed, star-shaped.
Stamens 4-6, filaments short, anthers filiform.
Ovary 2-celled, ovules many, style bifid papilose.

A capsule
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
June - September
Significance :
It is generally cultivated in the gardens for its beautiful flowers and are even popular among the butterflies.
