About Senna pallida Plant :

  • Habit : A much branched bushy shrub with stems slightly yellowish-rusty coloured, with short appressed rusty coloured hairs.
  • Leaves :
    • Paripinnately compound, 3-4 on a rachis, arising from a common point, stipulate, stipules 2, linear, pointed, brown-purple coloured, rachis grooved on dorsal side.
    • Leaflets 6-10 pairs, opposite, arising from raised rounded collar, broadly oblong or obovate oblong, very obtuse but mucronulate, minutely hairy.
  • Flowers :
    • Flowers large, golden yellow, on 2-4 flowered peduncles which are shorter than the leaves, softly hairy.
    • Sepals 5, polysepalous.
    • Stamens 5, polyandrous.
    • Anthers stout, oblong, dehiscing by an apical pore with a brown line.
    • Ovary superior, long twisted when young.
    • Style short. Stigma oblong, purple coloured.
  • Fruit : Pods oblong-linear or narrower, membranaceous.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : November - March
  • Significance : An ornamental plant.
