Habit :
A small much branched shrub armed.
Leaves :
Orbicular, dentate or serrate, hairy on both sides, stipular spines one long straight and the other short hooked.
Inflorescence :
Axillary cyme
Flowers :
Flowers with calyx hairy, petals rounded, longer than sepals, 5 stamens, filaments deflexed.
Disk 10-lobed with a pit opposite each lobe.
Ovary 2-celled, styles 2, united.
Fruit :
Drupe globose, red when ripe.

Significance :
Fruits are edible, possess acid flavor and wholesome appetizer.
