About Ziziphus nummularia Plant :

  • Habit : A small much branched shrub armed.
  • Leaves : Orbicular, dentate or serrate, hairy on both sides, stipular spines one long straight and the other short hooked.
  • Inflorescence : Axillary cyme
  • Flowers :
    • Flowers with calyx hairy, petals rounded, longer than sepals, 5 stamens, filaments deflexed.
    • Disk 10-lobed with a pit opposite each lobe.
    • Ovary 2-celled, styles 2, united.
  • Fruit : Drupe globose, red when ripe.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : September
  • Significance : Fruits are edible, possess acid flavor and wholesome appetizer.
