About Citrus maxima Plant :

  • Habit : A bushy tree.
  • Leaves : Unifoliate with pellucid oil glands, large, dark green, petioles broadly winged.
  • Inflorescence : Axillary, solitary or 2-10 clustered.
  • Flower :
    • White, large, calyx cup-like, Petals 4-8, white, oblong.
    • Stamens 16-24.
    • Ovary many-celled, seated on a big disc, style long, stigma big, capitate.
  • Fruit : Globose, large, yellow, rind, thich pulp white or red.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : May-Oct
  • Significance :                                
    • It is nutrient and refrigerant and useful in biliousness and good for chest complaints.
    • It is used in curing headaches and also against loss of appetite.
