About Ensete superbum Plant :

  • Habit : Plant 10-12 feet high, trunk not stoloniferous.
  • Leaves : Oblong, narrowed to the base, free petioles short.
  • Inflorescence : Spikes at first globose finally drooping.
  • Flowers :
    • Bracteate, bracts orbicular, long and broad, dull claret-brown.
    • Calyx lobes 3, linear, loosely cohering.
    • Petals pale, almost pellucid, the apex 3-lobed, the 2 side lobes rounded, the midlobe long, linear.
  • Fruit : Oblong, subcoriaceous, nearly dry when ripe. Seeds numerous, subglobose, angled by pressure, smooth brown or black.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : Not known
