About Filicium decipiens Plant :

  • Habit : A small tree.
  • Leaves :
    • Bright-green fern-like leaves and a winged rachis.
    • Pinnate, leaflets 6-8 pairs, glabrous, shining, opposite or some alternate, sessile, linear-oblong, mid-rib prominent, rachis with a broad leafly wing on either side between the leaflets, broad at top but narrowing downwards.
  • Inflorescence : Panicles
  • Flowers :
    • Small, many, unisexual.
    • Sepals persistent, imbricate, petals as long as sepals.
    • Disk hairy.
    • Ovary globose, 2-celled, 1-ovuled, style short, curved.
  • Fruit : A drupe purple.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : January - February
  • Significance : An ornamental plant.
