About Jacaranda mimosifolia Plant :

  • Habit : A large deciduous tree.
  • Leaves : Opposite, distant, bipinnate, leaflets oblong-rhomboid, the terminal larger.
  • Inflorescence : Many-flowered terminal panicles.
  • Flowers :
    • Violet-blue in colour, calyx small, 5-toothed.
    • Corolla campanulate, tube slender and curved below, inflated above, limb bilipped.
    • Stamens 4, didynamous, staminode as long as the stamens, club-shaped at the apex.
    • Ovary superior, ovules many, style short, stigma bilobed.
  • Fruit : Capsule oblong, ovate or rounded and woody.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : March-April.
  • Significance : Found in residential areas.
