Habit :
A small evergreen tree with drooping branches (looks like and mistaken for Asopalav).
Leaves :
Alternate, elliptic-oblong, acute, coriaceous, dark-green, distantly serrulate, wavy, stipules small.
Inflorescence :
Axillary
Flowers :
Dioecious, male flowers axillary, crowded, sepals 3-6, oblong, stamens 2-4, filaments united below.
Female flowers 1-3, in axillary, sepals elliptic, obtuse, concave.
Ovary hairy, 3-celled, styles 3, recurved, hairy, stigma crescent-shaped.
Fruit :
Drupe ellipsoid, pointed, white-hairy.
Flowering and Fruiting Time :
March - May
Significance :
Fruits are used as charms to keep children in good health.
