  • Habit : A small tree.
  • Leaves : Opposite, large, base cordate, gland-dotted, intramarginal nerve present.
  • Inflorescence : Dense racemes.
  • Flowers :
    • Crimson or purple coloured.
    • Calyx cup-like, teeth 4, suborbicular, glandular.
    • Stamens many, exserted.
    • Ovary inferior.
  • Fruit : Obovoid pyriform, white berry with the fleshy calyx-teeth at the apex, 1-2 seeded.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : April - May
  • Significance : Cultivated mainly for its edible fruits.
