About Tecomella undulata Plant :

  • Habit : A small tree with drooping, hairy branches.
  • Leaves : Simple, narrowly oblong, entire, obtuse, wavy.
  • Inflorescence : Few-flowered racemes on short lateral branches.
  • Flowers :
    • Calyx campanulate,  lobes short, ovate.
    • Corolla orange-yellow, campanulate, lobes 5, veined, unequal, rounded.
    • Stamens 4, exserted, anther-cells divergent and pendulous.
    • Disk copular.
    • Ovary oblong, ovules many.
  • Fruit : Capsules big, flat, slightly curved, seeds winged.
  • Flowering and Fruiting Time : February - April
  • Significance :
    • The bark is used for syphilis.
    • The wood is very strong and highly prized for furniture.
    • Bark given internally on broken bones.
